Three Evolved Publishing Authors in the Spotlight

3D-JellicleGirlFirst, under the ongoing heading of “We Love Awards,” author Stevie Mikayne has been honored by the good folks at the National Indie Excellence Book Awards. They’ve named her debut novel, Jellicle Girl, a Finalist: Gay, Lesbian & Transgender Fiction. We think this is a richly-deserved award, and we thank the folks at the Indie Excellence Awards for recognizing the true quality of this excellent book.

3D-NZMammothTroubleSecond, author D. Robert Pease continues to earn high praise for his multiple award-winning Noah Zarc: Mammoth Trouble. This middle grade sci-fi adventure has captured the imagination of readers young and old alike. It’s true that its intended audience is kids 9-13 years old, with characters they can relate to and empathize with – yet adults are loving it too.

See what author and book reviewer SW Lothian has to say about this wonderful book at Seriously Awesome Adventures.

And of course, be sure to check out the full Noah Zarc series.

3D-TheDollMakerThird, author Majanka Verstraete sits down for an interview with The Writer’s Life eMagazine. She talks about the writing and publishing process, and what inspired her to write the Weirdville lower grade series of spooky adventures – chapter books for kids 6-10 years old. With three books already available, and three more coming in 2014, this is the perfect series for young kids who like a spooky tale – scary, but not too scary; in other words, fun scary.

Evolved Publishing Earns New Honors and Awards in May 2014

And the awards just keep on coming….

We speak often of our commitment to quality, and awards are a sure way to bolster that claim. We understand that awards are both highly subjective and incredibly competitive, which makes receiving them a real challenge. Indeed, we believe some of our books have been extremely deserving of awards for which they were nominated, and yet they came up short in the voting. After all, judges are people, too, and they have their own preferences.

Nonetheless, we’re always pleased when our hard work is recognized by others in the industry. Most recently, we’ve added a few more awards to our shelf.

Publisher Award

Awesome Indies-ApprovedFirst, we have to thank the good folks at Awesome Indies for making Evolved Publishing their first outside publisher to receive the Awesome Indies Seal of Approval. As they explain on their website, Awesome Indies has some tough, uncompromising criteria for the awarding of their seal of approval, as explained here. We are pleased to have met their criteria on a consistent basis, thus earning their trust – and their seal of approval – as a publisher. When looking for books that will stand up to your own high standards, you would do well to trust Awesome Indies as a source of recommendations. We’re gratified to be one of those recommendations.

Book Awards

In the past few weeks, a number of our books have achieved special recognition.

Hot_Sinatra_v2_300dpi_200x300 ArthurEllisAwardsFinalistOn April 24th, the big news for us from our neighbors up north was that the Crime Writers of Canada selected Hot Sinatra by Axel Howerton as one of five finalists for the Arthur Ellis Award for Best First Novel. Hot Sinatra was chosen with 4 other books from a large field, and whether it ultimately wins the award or not (to be announced at the Arthur Ellis Awards gala dinner on Thursday, June 5, at the Arts & Letters Club in downtown Toronto), we are honored that Mr. Howerton’s book has made the cut.

NZ_Mammoth_Trouble_v2_300dpi_200x300 Eric-Hoffer-Award-Banner_2014 Awesome Indies-ApprovedIt’s been a big couple of weeks for author D. Robert Pease and Noah Zarc: Mammoth Trouble, the first book in this middle grade sci-fi adventure series. First came the news that this wonderful book earned an Honorable Mention from the Eric Hoffer Awards 2014, making it one of their TOP 7 books in this vast Juvenile and Young Adult category. Then came the news that Awesome Indies recognized the book with their seal of approval in the Middle Grade category. Noah Zarc: Mammoth Trouble had already won several prestigious awards before this, but we’re so pleased to add these to its list of accomplishments.

And then we have the guy hogging up all the awards!

The_Silver_Sphere_v3_300dpi_200x300 National Indie Excellence Book AwardsAuthor Michael Dadich just received his 14th award – that’s right, 14 – for his debut sci-fi/fantasy novel, The Silver Sphere. And why not? This fantasy/science fiction adventure, or sci-fa in the grand Star Wars tradition, has readers and critics alike talking, and once you have 13 awards… well, you naturally want the 14th. 🙂 Well, the folks at the National Indie Excellence Awards have made that happen, recognizing The Silver Sphere as their best in Fantasy for 2014.

We expect to be back soon with more great announcements about honors for our books, but in the meantime, you can keep track of them yourself by stopping in at our Awards Won page from time to time. Thank you, and we hope you enjoy these fun and fantastic books.

“Noah Zarc: Mammoth Trouble” Honored by the Eric Hoffer Awards

An Honorable Mention for this Multi-Award-Winning Novel

NZ_Mammoth_Trouble_v2_300dpi_200x300This first book in the Noah Zarc science fiction series is ideal for kids as young as 8 and as old as 14, depending on reading level and parental involvement.

But the twelve-year-old time traveler learns it could be a whole lot worse. His mom is kidnapped and taken to Mars; his dad is stranded in the Ice Age; and Noah is attacked at every turn by a foe bent on destroying Earth… for the second time.

If you’re looking for an out-of-this-world, action-packed adventure, and love such books as Percy Jackson, The Softwire, Artemis Fowl, or The Search for Wondla, then Noah Zarc: Mammoth Trouble needs to be your next thrill ride.

Be sure to read the rest of Noah’s adventures through space and time, with Book 2 of the series, Noah Zarc: Cataclysm, and Book 3, Noah Zarc: Declaration.

**THE NOAH ZARC SERIES IS NOW AVAILABLE AS AUDIO BOOKS TOO**

Eric-Hoffer-Award-Banner_2014 Eric Hoffer Award 2014 – Honorable Mention – Young Adult (Juvenile and YA)

It’s always exciting to win awards, and Noah Zarc: Mammoth Trouble by D. Robert Pease has won several. The Eric Hoffer Award is just the latest, and frankly, perhaps one of the most difficult to obtain.

First, there’s no telling how many hundreds of entries they had in this category; we can only guess, as they’ve not publicized the number. Second, the category itself – Young Adult – is actually a mix of “juvenile” and “young adult” titles. That makes it tougher for a book like Noah Zarc: Mammoth Trouble, which is really targeted at a younger “middle grade” audience.

Nonetheless, the judges at the Eric Hoffer Awards made this wonderful book one of its Honorable Mentions in this broad category, ultimately making it one of the top 7 books in the category.

We congratulate D. Robert Pease on his continued success. We also hope that if you have kids between the ages of 8 and 14 who love great science fiction adventures (boys or girls, as there are great characters with whom each of them can relate), you’ll check out the full Noah Zarc series, which you can find here: Middle Grade Books.
