J.P. Barnett grew up in a tiny Texas town where the list of possible vocations failed to include published author. In second grade, he worked harder than any other student to deliver a story about a tiger cub who singlehandedly saved the U.S. Military, earning him a shiny gold star and a lifelong appreciation of telling a good story.

Fast forwarding through decades of schooling and a career as a software engineer, J.P. Barnett stepped away from it all to get back to his first real passion. Years of sitting at a keyboard gifted him with some benefit, though, including blazing fast typing hands and a full tank of creativity.

As a child, J.P. consumed any book he could get his hands on. The likes of Stephen King, Michael Crichton, and Dean Koontz paved the bookshelves of his childhood, providing a plethora of fantastical and terrifying tales that he read way too early in life. Though the effect these books had on his psyche could be called into question, these masters of storytelling managed to warp his mind in just the perfect way to spin a fun yarn or two.

J.P. currently resides in Seattle with his wife and hellion of a cat, both of whom look at him dubiously with some frequency.

AUTHOR:

A writer since age six, Mike Robinson is the award-winning author of ten books, including the dark urban fantasy trilogy “The Enigma of Twilight Falls” (The Green-Eyed Monster; Negative Space; Waking Gods). His short fiction has appeared in over twenty outlets, and he has sold work to Amazon Audible. A native of Los Angeles, he is a charter member of The Greater Los Angeles Writers Society (GLAWS), a freelance book editor as well as an active screenwriter and producer. A short sci-fi thriller he co-wrote, Chrysaline, is on ThinkShorts and making the film festival rounds.

EDITOR:

My initial editing experience came in the swarms of prose I pumped out into the world, only occasionally into the world of actual magazines, anthologies or e-zines. Soon, as I began selling more regularly, and as publishers took note of my longer works, I began freelance editing.

In the past eight years, I’ve edited screenplays, memoirs, novels, children’s books and, would you believe it, epic narrative poetry. One of the novels I edited, Under the Tamarind Tree, was shortlisted among nine others for the 2014 Dundee International Book Prize. A charter member of The Greater Los Angeles Writers Society (GLAWS), I am also the managing editor of the organization’s official publication, Literary Landscapes, which features stories, excerpts, articles and poetry (see issues here). In addition, I belong to the editing collective Write For Success, for which I perform manuscript critiques and consultation.

Rabid Reader says, “Once again Jason LaVelle has written an intricate, creepy and yet thought provoking story that keeps you on the edge of your seat… The storyline captures your imagination and sends shivers down your spine….”

With time running out, she must warn her daughter of the dark forces in the world, those she could never talk about before.

Emma Gilbert is as beautiful and headstrong as her mother, and she’s just learned that she’s about to be called into battle against an unimaginable evil that has stalked the earth for a millennium. A.K. KUYKENDALL was born in Albany, Georgia, but grew up as a military brat on the Kaneohe Bay Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH), and later at the Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base in Jacksonville, North Carolina. He is married to Magdiel Kuykendall (the love of his life) and, together, they are the proud parents of three sons—Felix, Kal-El, and Jor-El—two of whom are legally named after the Kryptonian House of El due to the author’s affinity for the story of Superman. He’s a corporate executive chef by trade, but his true passion in life is writing thought-provoking novels that blend the concepts of fact and fiction.

His writing career has been heavily inspired and influenced by Rod Serling and his classic ‘60s television series, The Twilight Zone, and by The Mercury Theatre’s October 30, 1938 broadcast of “The War of the Worlds” over the Columbia Broadcasting System radio. He was then and still is wholly enthralled with the way these two examples showcased ordinary people in extraordinary situations. He especially loved the remarkable plot twists common to The Twilight Zone stories, and the fright manifested by H.G. Wells.

When he’s not writing, he finds comfort in heading out to the golf course with his son and golf partner, Jor-El, where they altogether embarrass themselves on the fairway. He both creates and resides in Ruskin, Florida.

So, what is Godsknife: Revolt?

FROM THE AUTHOR:

One answer is, it’s an apocalyptic battle for godhood in the rift between Iowa and the Abyss. Another, is it’s a soup spiced with ingredients from all of my favorite Stephen King and Neil Gaiman novels, namely The Gunslinger, The Stand and American Gods, but inserting giant praying mantises, a mind-bending trip into the Abyss, and a multitude of characters I’ve cried with as I told their story.

If you are more of a sci-fi fan, it’s still cheaper to get Godsknife: Revolt as a pre-order and have me send my “Sand Diver” books for free. Those books tell the story of a couple who’ve lost their infant to a sand spill and must reconcile their differences as they fall upon a trap that’s unleashed the technology that caused the apocalypse. Think the Jack Bauer show, “24,” if it were set two hundred years after America was devastated by a nanotech plague.

DanCrossBookBlog calls these books, “Non-stop tech action. Brilliant.”

So, what is Godsknife: Revolt?

FROM THE PUBLISHER:

The rift between Iowa and the Abyss is thinner than it seems. Modern society meets the power and reality of myth in the new war between Chaos, Order and Maker. A priestess of Order seeking godhood unleashes a virus to mutate and enslave the human race. Those who survive will face the height of her power, but will they bow before it?

[Horror, Dark Fantasy, Supernatural Thriller]

A fleet of enlarged praying mantises has invaded Des Moines, Iowa. Swarms of cicadas are turning survivors into winged soldiers. Orchestrating the warzone is a priestess of Order, who’s pursuing godhood, and the nation of followers who’ll get her there.

Caroline’s new friendship parts the veil between reality and myth, as a recruiter of Order needs her to hide him from capture. In their escape, the boss she’s loved like a father reveals his elevator into the Abyss.

In this new world, Caroline finds a usurped god and an angry ghost eager to make her their getaway back to power. What if the person her friends will need is heartbeats away from becoming the real threat?

And so….

We hope you’re as thrilled about this new series as we are, and that you’ll take Timothy C. Ward up on his extraordinary offer above, allowing you to get his 2 other books free after purchasing (pre-order) Godsknife: Revolt at a $2.00 discount. We think you’re going to love it.

As always, we wish to express our sincere appreciation for your support. As a small press, we strive always to bring you only high quality, great, entertaining books. And we couldn’t possibly do it without you.
