Growing up, I was the girl in class with her nose stuck in a book. I flew through them at a hungry pace and daydreamed of the many worlds authors described in their novels. My love for the written word translated into developing a freelance business with writing, editing and social media at the forefront.

I love meeting creative people and strive to learn more each day to hone my craft. I’m excited to join the team at Evolved Publishing! Authors that influence me include J.R.R. Tolkien, J.K. Rowling, Sandra Cisneros, Stephen King, Zora Neale Hurston, and William Faulkner, among others

When I’m not working, you can find me reading, running long distances for the fun of it, or spending time with my husband.

D. Robert Pease is a multi-award winning author who has been interested in creating worlds since childhood. While drawing fantastical realms with paper and pencil, or dreaming up whole civilizations on an old typewriter, there has hardly been a time he hasn’t been off on some adventure in his mind, to the dismay of parents and teachers alike. It’s not surprising, then, he chose to write stories of imagination and worlds beyond our own. Each striving to answer the age-old question of where we fit in the grand story that is continually unfolding around us.

D. Robert is a graphic designer by trade, graduating from the University of Akron with a BFA in Graphic Design and a minor in illustration. For nearly two decades he has owned Walking Stick Communications, a website development company. He has also branched out into the book design business, creating covers and formatting book interiors for fellow authors through his company, Walking Stick Books.

With a love of Fantasy and Science Fiction, D. Robert has enjoyed discovering whole new worlds through the classics as well as modern tales by up-and-coming authors. His own stories span time and space with a particular bent toward finding the epic in every-day characters. Even if those characters happen to be time-traveling paraplegics or teenage geniuses who can travel in other people’s dreams. Several of his books have won numerous awards and are regularly rated highly by all who read them.

D. Robert lives in the gray-skied world of northeast Ohio with his wife, two kids, one dog, one cat, and a pond full of fish (all of whom are seriously smarter than he is… well, maybe not the fish.) When not writing, he can be found touring the country in an RV, with his trusty Jeep in tow.

Artist

Art and design have been passions of mine longer than I can remember. From doodling with friends on rainy days to a BFA in Graphic Design and Illustration, to twenty-five years in the industry, I’ve been involved in nearly every aspect of design, including game development, 3-D animation, print, and multimedia design. For the past sixteen years, I’ve owned a website development company, and work with small and large organizations all over the country.

One dream I’ve had since high school was to design book covers, and I’ve been excited to see the boom in small presses like Evolved Publishing, and self-published authors, looking for high-quality professional covers that can stand spine-to-spine with anything New York is publishing. As of April 2014, I look forward to working on not only my own covers for EP, but on covers for some of EP’s other authors, too.

I live in Ohio with my wife and two kids. You can find samples of my work at www.walkingstickbooks.com.

Watch for the release of Cleopatra Rising, the second book in the Joey Cola series of young adult fantasies. Please stay tuned to this page for updates.

As food riots engulf the physical world, and a battle for power consumes the dream world, sixteen-year-old Joey Cola must come to grips with his place in both worlds. Can he help save a planet on the brink of starvation? Should he seize power for himself and fill the void left by the missing Pharaoh?

While on the run from assassins sent to kill him, Joey struggles to maintain his own identity and sort out his feelings for his best friend Alexandra and the exotic and mysterious Cleopatra. The princess may hold all the answers, but logic tells him she can’t be trusted. Unfortunately, for the first time in his life, logic isn’t in control.

As the grip of the dream world grows, and the physical world becomes indistinct, will he be dominated by his lust for more power? Or will the love of his friends and family finally show him what is real, and what is just a dream?

As a kid, I dreamed of having my own library, with a floor-to-ceiling ladder. As an adult, I have an empty room and a pile of book boxes in the corner. But the room has potential, and I have a plan. Being a writer is like that; you need potential, but you also need a road map. Evolved Publishing is both part of my career plan, and a living dream for me. I love helping other writers achieve their dreams, by shaping a manuscript until it starts breathing on its own.

I spent the first part of my career in special education before realizing that writing was more than just a hobby. While taking my MA in creative writing at Lancaster University (UK), I was introduced to the world of creative nonfiction, and I’ve been in love ever since.

Sleet magazine recently published an excerpt from my creative fiction novel-in-progress, Letters to Catherine. I’ve also had work published in Stone Highway Review and the Beltane Papers. Sometimes, I teach creative writing at the Nepean Creative Arts Centre, and at Algonquin College in Ottawa, Canada. My debut novel, Jellicle Girl, was published by Evolved Publishing on August 15, 2012. They released my second novel, Weight of Earth, on May 20, 2013.

When I grow up, I want to be a baby elephant whisperer in Kenya.

When I was in the third grade, my teacher wrote ‘tends to daydream’ on my report card. What did she expect from a girl raised on fairytales? I’m convinced those fanciful stories led to the romance novel addiction I acquired in junior high. My mom caught me reading a particularly hot one and took it away from me. She couldn’t stop me from daydreaming though, and after I got married, I wrote some of my steamier daydreams down and sent them to Playgirl magazine. Two of them were published. I kept writing and eventually my short stories became romance novels.

I live in Colorado now, but I’ll always be a loyal Wisconsin Cheesehead. When I’m not lusting after my next bad boy hero, I’m looking for inspiration in sci-fi and action movies, football players, morally ambiguous lawyers, muscle cars, and kick-butt chicks. Characters—the ever-present voices in my head—bring my books to life. They’re my imaginary friends.

We all need to get away from reality for a little while. I prefer to escape with a flirty, fun, sizzly, sexy romance.

My first work of art was strategically placed footprints on a boring white wall at the age of 2. By 8, I had already won my first fine artist award. Since then, I’ve designed professional websites, business cards, web graphics, vehicle & store ad graphics, and more. I found my love in the graphics arts creating custom designs through photo blending and manipulation. I’ve put this skillset to use in helping authors bring their visions to life. In addition to art, I have a fervid love for reading and raising my daughter, Arri.
