I’m a writer. From childhood I kindled three dreams: to one day become a father, a writer, and a baseball player.

Two of three ain’t bad. (I shall neither confirm nor deny holding out deluded hope for the third.) Most of what I write is fiction, but not all. I write the occasional article and guest post, and conduct some interviews. I’m an English major, have a masters in social work, and have been an early childhood leader/advocate for many years. I’m sports-obsessed, love animals, and love to share the veritable treasure trove of pithy comments from my kiddos, particularly my little girl, about whom I receive regular requests for more “Rachelisms.”

It’s been less than a year since his fateful 15th birthday, but for David Rose, everything has changed. He’s learned of his immortality, discovered a sinister plot centuries in the making, survived an attempt on his life at a medieval castle in England, and through it all, he’s more convinced than ever that his mother is alive.

David has been awakened to a wondrous new world, yet one fraught with peril. Despite all his new powers and potential, David feels more vulnerable than ever. His awakening has served as a beacon to other immortals, some of whom view him as a threat to be dispatched.

Strange things are happening with Rachel, their father has withdrawn again, and David worries they are no closer to finding their mother. Just as he’s learning how to channel the greatest powers of his past lives, he’s abducted by a rogue syndicate bent on exploiting immortals and pitting them against each other in battles to the death.

I’m a professional thrifter, the father of four children, and an avid runner. I was born and raised in Georgia, and spent time in Oklahoma, California, Connecticut, and then Oregon, as an adult. I’m a graduate of Oregon State University and now reside in North Georgia, raising my family, near family.

My first book, The Earth Bleeds Red, was released in 2013. I took a few years off from writing to start my own business, and my second book, The Lights Will Never Fade, came out in Jan 2018. My new contemporary suspense/thriller series, An American Family, is coming in the fall of 2018 from Evolved Publishing.

I’m a bit of a free spirit who enjoys working from home, traveling around, looking for treasures to share, and creating worlds that otherwise would not exist. Thrifting and writing are my two passions, and I’m fortunate to be able to do both.

COMING 4 MARCH 2019: CLOUDS FALL LIKE FIRE

On his eleventh birthday, Jamie White watched his father die. His mother passed a few years later, leaving him alone. He became a professional poker player at nineteen, married the love of his life, and they raised three kids in suburban Ohio.

On his fortieth birthday, it all comes crashing down.

When tragedy strikes, Jamie sells everything he owns and embarks on a journey across the country as a modern-day nomad, living in casinos. He meets a much-needed friend along the way, a blackjack dealer named Isabella who captures his heart, but he struggles to explain his past—and what, exactly, happened to his family.

When a mysterious car appears during one of his trips, Jamie fears that someone is following him. He settles near the Oregon coast, hoping for a new future, but death threats, along with eerily specific mentions of his past, start appearing underneath the windshield wipers on his car.

Isabella travels to Oregon to see him as their friendship grows into a deeper love, at the very time Jamie is trying to make sense of why anyone would want him dead. As he battles his regret for moving on from his family so quickly, he tries to unmask his stalker’s identity. Can Jamie and Isabella survive this unknown enemy? Will their love heal his deep wounds? Or will Jamie face the unthinkable… again?

New to the Evolved Publishing Team as of 21 February 2018:

Stories in all forms, from movies to video games to graphic novels, have been an integral part of my life from a very young age, but I’ve always loved books in particular. As soon as I could hold a crayon, I was creating elaborate picture books on stapled sheets of printer paper. Once I learned to write, written narrative became my obsession, and it’s remained so ever since.

I earned my BA in creative writing from the University of Washington, and I later returned to earn a certificate in editing. I’ve discovered that, almost as much as I enjoy creating my own stories, I love helping others polish, perfect, and streamline their work—breaking down a scene to discover precisely what isn’t working, hunting down plot holes and inconsistencies, and digging for the exact turn of phrase that will make a piece of dialogue sing.

Since beginning my career as an editor, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of material (including memoirs, novels, novellas, and short stories) in multiple genres and at multiple stages in the publication process. Helping bring books to print is both a dream come true and an honor, and I’m thrilled to be joining the talented team at Evolved!

When I’m not editing, I’m often hiking, dancing (swing and Texas two-step), playing video games, or—of course—reading. After a recent move from Seattle to Austin, I also spend more time eating tacos than the average human.

A writer since age six and a professional one since nineteen, my initial editing experience came in the swarms of prose I pumped out into the world, only occasionally into the world of actual magazines, anthologies or e-zines. Soon, as I began selling more regularly, and as publishers took note of my longer works, I began freelance editing.

In the past eight years, I’ve edited screenplays, memoirs, novels, children’s books and, would you believe it, epic narrative poetry. One of the novels I edited, Under the Tamarind Tree, was shortlisted among nine others for the 2014 Dundee International Book Prize. A charter member of The Greater Los Angeles Writers Society (GLAWS), I am also the managing editor of the organization’s official publication, Literary Landscapes, which features stories, excerpts, articles and poetry (see issues here). In addition, I belong to the editing collective Write For Success, for which I perform manuscript critiques and consultation. As an author, I have published nine novels and almost fifteen short stories.
