Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, I spent my youth overindulging in Mad Magazine, Monty Python, and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, which left me with a slightly skewed view of the world.

As a result, I’ve written numerous comedy sketches for both live theatre and radio, as well as several attempts at the great Australian sitcom. However, it is in books that I believe I’ve found my true calling. There’s nothing I enjoy more than creating stories for children, and for the child in all of us – stories that I hope will make people laugh and think, and add a smile to their day.

In addition to my children’s stories, I’ve also written several humorous novels and novellas, one of which was a semi-finalist in the 2011 Goodreads Choice Awards.

Born in 1975, I’m the product of star-crossed lovers who took separate paths shortly after my arrival. Now a three-time mother, twice married woman, and eclectic person, I reside in the sunny biosphere that is Sierra Vista, Arizona, with my wonderful partner in crime, Peter, and three brilliant geeklings: Michael, Cami and Desmond. Oh, and a mop… er… Shih Tzu named Sir Lancelot the Brave.

Writing came to me naturally, and the dark clouds of childhood and adolescent angst gave birth to a myriad of story threads that reflected my inner struggle to find a place in this world. I haven’t quite discovered it yet, but I’ve fallen in love with the journey and all the stories unfolding in front of me. I’m a lover of many genres and a writer of a small handful, and rather content with that lot.

I’m a writer with a knack for finding new jobs in new places. Born and raised in Illinois, my past incarnations have included bookstore barista in Indiana, college student in southern France, statistician in North Carolina, economic development analyst in North Dakota, and high school teacher in Iowa. I draw on my experiences to tell the stories of those around me, with a generous heaping of “what if” thrown in.

Growing up, I preferred books to people, and fortunately the library down the road indulged my introversion/misanthropy. I’d read any genre, as long as the story had relatable characters and left me thinking about what I’d read days, even years later. This has stuck with me, and it’s something I aim for in my own works: Love my characters or hate them, just as long as my stories leave you feeling something or seeing the world in a new perspective.

D. Robert Pease is a multi-award winning author who has been interested in creating worlds since childhood. While drawing fantastical realms with paper and pencil, or dreaming up whole civilizations on an old typewriter, there has hardly been a time he hasn’t been off on some adventure in his mind, to the dismay of parents and teachers alike. It’s not surprising, then, he chose to write stories of imagination and worlds beyond our own. Each striving to answer the age-old question of where we fit in the grand story that is continually unfolding around us.

D. Robert is a graphic designer by trade, graduating from the University of Akron with a BFA in Graphic Design and a minor in illustration. For nearly two decades he has owned Walking Stick Communications, a website development company. He has also branched out into the book design business, creating covers and formatting book interiors for fellow authors through his company, Walking Stick Books.

With a love of Fantasy and Science Fiction, D. Robert has enjoyed discovering whole new worlds through the classics as well as modern tales by up-and-coming authors. His own stories span time and space with a particular bent toward finding the epic in every-day characters. Even if those characters happen to be time-traveling paraplegics or teenage geniuses who can travel in other people’s dreams. Several of his books have won numerous awards and are regularly rated highly by all who read them.

D. Robert lives in the gray-skied world of northeast Ohio with his wife, two kids, one dog, one cat, and a pond full of fish (all of whom are seriously smarter than he is… well, maybe not the fish.) When not writing, he can be found touring the country in an RV, with his trusty Jeep in tow.

Artist

Art and design have been passions of mine longer than I can remember. From doodling with friends on rainy days to a BFA in Graphic Design and Illustration, to twenty-five years in the industry, I’ve been involved in nearly every aspect of design, including game development, 3-D animation, print, and multimedia design. For the past sixteen years, I’ve owned a website development company, and work with small and large organizations all over the country.

One dream I’ve had since high school was to design book covers, and I’ve been excited to see the boom in small presses like Evolved Publishing, and self-published authors, looking for high-quality professional covers that can stand spine-to-spine with anything New York is publishing. As of April 2014, I look forward to working on not only my own covers for EP, but on covers for some of EP’s other authors, too.

I live in Ohio with my wife and two kids. You can find samples of my work at www.walkingstickbooks.com.
