BOOK DESCRIPTION:
The Twisted Mosaic readers’ favorite, Claire, has some twisted fun of her own.

Dependable paralegal Claire O’Connor knows the man of her dreams is out there waiting for her, and she’s ready for him. Imagine her surprise—and delight—when she discovers not one but two men who lust for her. One adores her; the other challenges her. One makes sense; the other is a gamble.

Despite the family tragedy that shaped his past, JT Luck has only known success professionally. His personal life, however, is a failure. He doesn’t want a relationship, and while his ‘let it ride’ attitude keeps most women at a distance, Claire is eager to roll with him.

But when she finds out Kurt Langston, the office’s resident computer geek, harbors a secret crush on her, she wonders if he’s the safer bet. Kurt doesn’t get close to people, and his feelings for Claire make no sense in his carefully ordered life. His unexpected bond with JT pushes him to take chances he never imagined.

Go all-in or go home? Either way, the heat could be more than they can handle.

Evolved Publishing Opens a Crowdfunding Campaign on IndieGoGo

Working to Build a Stronger Alternative for Indie Authors

Yep, we’re looking to the public to help us ramp up our game a bit. The campaign is running here: End of Summer 2014 – New Visions.

First, what’s in it for you? Well, that’s easy, and it’s really two-fold:

      1. You support an artistic team so that they can continue to bring you great material well into the future. You help ensure that we can continue to open up new opportunities for the indie authors, editors, artists, and translators that make up our essential team. And you help us to grow that team.
      2. You get a real value for your contribution. Whether you’re contributing $2, $5, or $500, you get more than your money’s worth in the end. This was important to us.

EP_Slide_Literary_v2

Why a Crowdfunding Campaign?

We thought long and hard about this. On the one hand, we have a business that should be self-supporting. On the other hand, we’re a relatively new business that is still seeking to find its place and really make its mark in the marketplace. This has been hindered as much by the general state of the economy as anything else.

We believe strongly that we’re putting together a first-rate team of talented individuals, and we want them to be successful in their endeavors not just for their sakes, but for yours. We’ve put out some absolutely wonderful books (if we do say so ourselves), and we want to continue doing so long into the future. Will we have to stop if our crowdfunding campaign fails? No, but this gives us opportunities to step things up and power through the tough times.

Many of you may not know, but we as a publisher take a smaller percentage of the profits on any given book than perhaps any other publisher in the business. In turn, we pay exceptionally high royalty percentages, and fair commission rates to editors, artists, translators, and the entire supporting team on any project. Of course, high percentages for them only helps if the books actually sell.

As for us, the very low commissions we take as publisher is a bit of a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it allows us to attract great authors who produce some fantastic work, encouraging them to come on board with us rather than pursue the self-publishing option. This is critical for us, because our slogan–Quality is Priority #1–is more than just a slogan; it lies at the very heart of everything we do. On the other hand, those low commissions during hard economic times, meaning lower sales for almost everyone in this business, make it tough to keep the business moving forward, and not just stalled in a holding pattern.

Thus, we believe we offer something fairly unusual, if not outright unique (we think some folks are trying to copy our model *wink*), for both authors (and the team that supports them) and readers. Ah yes, readers….

In the end, as much as we talk about what we do for indie authors and their supporting teams, this is really all about the readers. After all, we have a product to sell: great books. Without equally great readers, those books are meaningless

And so we hope you’ll want to participate in this campaign not just to support the arts, and our small place in that world, but because you’ll get a really great deal no matter which contribution option you choose.

As always, thank you for your support. We couldn’t do it without you, so please come on over and make your contribution (and get your perks). You really do make a difference: End of Summer 2014 – New Visions

Charlie’s parents drop him off at the train station so he can visit his grandma in Weirdville. It’s a cold winter evening, so when his usual train is cancelled at the last second, Charlie wishes he’d stayed home.

An hour later, shivering from the cold, he climbs onboard the next train to Weirdville, even though he’d rather not. It looks like something straight out of the nineteenth century, as if it used a time machine to arrive at the station.

His shivering doesn’t stop, for soon after Charlie boards, he realizes just how right he was to be wary of this strange train. Something is seriously wrong with all the people onboard. If only he could figure out what was going on. If only he could get off the train.

When her parents allow her to go to the fair, Jacky is over the moon. The fair is most famous for its haunted mansion, the House of Horrors, and her friend Ben can’t wait to try it out. Her best friend, Cass, is a little more reluctant, but then again, Cass has always been a chicken when it comes to getting scared.

Jacky and Cass are determined to act tough, so when Ben suggests they try out the House of Horrors, the girls tag along, even though the place gives them the chills.

As soon as the three of them enter the spooky monstrosity, the ride comes to a screeching halt, and the horror begins.

The lights fade, and a hooded figure appears and tells them they’re stuck in a twisted game of cat and mouse. He will show them their worst fears, and if the kids manage to face down those fears, they’ll have a chance of getting out of the House of Horrors alive. If they don’t, well….

Thirty minutes to go. Thirty minutes to face their nightmares… and the clock is ticking.

Derek’s little sister wants one of those creepy-looking dolls staring at him from the strange new doll shop in town, and what his sister wants, she gets. Now they’re stuck with a doll that looks so human, it gives Derek the creeps.

When Derek tells his friends, Martin and Jamie, about the new shop with creepy human-like dolls, they want to see for themselves. That has “bad idea” written all over it, but he takes his friends there anyway.

They meet the mysterious doll maker, who reminds Derek of Dr. Frankenstein, and who brainwashes Martin into buying one of those scary dolls. Derek and Jamie push and pull Martin out of the shop, but something isn’t right with their friend. He’s shivering all over, and he has no memory of what happened in the shop.

Martin’s condition worsens every day, and Derek’s sister grows more and more obsessed with her new doll. Derek and Jamie have to find out what’s going on, and fast, because….

…the doll maker seems linked to a bunch of mysterious disappearances, and the last thing Derek wants is his sister, or his friend, being next on the doll maker’s list.

The Critically-Acclaimed “Carry Me Away” – In the Spotlight and On Sale!

No 2nd-Book-Blues Here

3D-CarryMeAwayThe Book of the Day today at eReader News Today is Carry Me Away, by Robb Grindstaff. We’re particularly pleased about this because we think this is an extraordinary book that too few people have yet discovered.

A reviewer at Amazon, “Marked by Books,” said it as well as we ever could:
“Best Book of the Year”
This review had to be shortened to fit within Amazon’s maximum word count. For the full review and more, please visit markedbybooks.blogspot.com.

This is a story about how to not just live life, but to love it. And as cheesy as that sounds, it still works. Carrie’s life was taken from her before she even had the chance to begin living it, and when she woke up, completing that stolen life with the little time she had left was her only goal. She rushed to hit those major mile markers: finishing college, falling in love, and returning back to visit her grandmother in Japan. Her life became consumed by those goals, yet as she hit each one, she never got any closer to feeling alive again.

So she kept on like that, refusing to die yet still never learning how to live. With everything she did, she was still consumed with the knowledge that her death was coming for her soon. And that was all she defined herself by.

But then she made it another week. Then a month, then a year, and it kept on going until her death sentence finally lifted. Since she was twelve years old, all she had been trying to do was make it to the finish line. And for all those years, that was all she was able to see. When you’ve been told your entire life that you’re going to die, what are you supposed to do when you finally realize that you don’t know how to live?

I love this book. I thought that I loved Grindstaff’s first novel, Hannah’s Voice, but I REALLY love Carry Me Away. Neither of his books are anything like what I typically read, yet they blow me away each and every time. Grindstaff’s ability to capture the minds of his characters when they’re young girls still remains unparalleled, and what I once thought was a one-time gift actually turns out to be a slightly concerning affinity for unlocking the minds of the world’s most disturbed creatures. I should know. I used to be one.

In all honesty, though, there’s nothing else out there quite like what Grindstaff is able to deliver here. These coming of age stories after a great personal tragedy are pitched all of the time, but they have always seemed to fall flat for me. Not once did I think that here. And if Grindstaff can get me, a girl who usually only reads books packed to the brim with action and comedy, to actually want to read a story this deep not once but twice, then that should tell you more than anything else that this book is really something special. — Taylor

Well, thank you, Taylor. Other reviewers have said something similar, indicating that as much as they loved Hannah’s Voice and wouldn’t have thought it possible, they loved Carry Me Away just as much – possibly even more. Wow. Really… wow.

We’re proud of all the books we publish here at EP, and Robb’s books are certainly among our most critically acclaimed. We’re thrilled to offer this great book for just $0.99 for the next few days. While you’re out there grabbing your copy of Carry Me Away, why not grab Hannah’s Voice at the same time?

Thank you, and please leave your own review wherever you bought the book, and at the product page right here at our website. Enjoy!
