CL Roberts-Huth was born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1975. Almost 50 years later, she is a three-time mother, twice married woman, and eclectic person, who resides in the sunny biosphere that is Sierra Vista, Arizona, with her wonderful partner in crime and three children. Oh, and two grandfloofs: Spencer, the Senegal parrot, and Whiskers, the guinea pig.

She's a lover of many genre and a writer of a small handful, and she's rather content with that lot.

The thing I enjoy most about a series of books is when I start reading the next in the series I am already acquainted with and invested in some of the characters. So it is more like catching up with old friends I haven’t seen for a while. That is how I felt starting Whispers of the Serpent. What have the characters been up to since the end of Whispers of the Dead? How have they grown? What is going on in their lives now?

The author answered all those questions and more throughout this book, as I was reeled deeper into the lives and complex relationships of the characters as family, friends, enemies, workmates and loves. At times I was literally laughing out loud, other times sobbing, sometimes forgetting they were not friends I could reach out and help, but always throughout the entirety of this book I was engaged and eager to keep reading to the end.

Whilst this book is a complete work and tied everything up, the teaser at the end has me wanting book 3 of the series to be out already so I can go on the next roller coaster adventure in this vivid world the author has created where the fantastical is totally believable.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The character development is very well done, and after a while, you feel a bond toward Zoe, the main character, as she traverses her world. The writing is descriptive and evocative, and pulls you in to her struggles. I was told to read this book by a friend, and it is not the type of book I normally read, which perhaps contributed to my enjoyment of it. I really enjoyed the experience, and look forward to reading more works by this excellent writer. Well done!

This book was fantastic! I was once again emerged in Zoë's world and pulled along for the ride. This is a book that once you start you can't put it down. The world and characters are so real to me that I was right there feeling every emotion right there with Zoë. The writing was so vivid that I just wanted to wrap myself up in her world and live there forever. I can't wait for the next book! This series just keeps getting better and better.

Apparently not swayed by the label "Book 2", I started here with the "Whispers" series, and it was a mighty entertaining start. There is a deceptive familiarity to the story: it trades in a commercial genre, but doesn't feel exactly like one (a good thing). Probably this has much to do with Zoe, her wary but confident voice and the deft way Roberts-Huth weaves Wicca and other mystical/supernatural elements into a setting that's as contemporary and relatable as it is esoteric. As someone who knows empaths and other sensitives, I appreciated the realness (the almost down-to-Earth quality, ironically) of the occult world and talents presented. There's dashes of "True Detective", "Buffy" and others, but Roberts-Huth synthesizes these things into something new. Time for Book 1.

After reading the first book Whispers of the dead I didn't think the story could get more inviting, but author Connie Roberts-Huth does not disappoint. In this second installment Whispers of the serpent she draws you even deeper into the spell binding realm of Zoe Delante (pun intended). I will never regret buying a hard copy to keep me company in a restless night.
