“With some utterly believable characters, a unique storyline and a well-paced mystery, this is a heart-stopping tale that will enthrall any reader.” ~ Readers’ Favorite Book Reviews, Anne-Marie Reynolds (5 STARS)

Payden Beck begins his career as a police officer, eager to serve. At the end of his first week, his field-training officer, Richard LaMont, invites him home for dinner, introducing Payden to his eccentric, much-younger wife, Ana. Ana approves.

Richard is called away to work during Payden’s visit, but Payden is happy to stay and watch over Ana. Their weekend is pleasant, sterile. Richard approves, as well. But, when Richard is found dead in his home Monday morning, Payden’s time spent with Ana—and their chemistry—make Payden the prime suspect.

The more Payden learns of Richard’s life—with Ana’s assistance—the deeper the mystery of Richard’s murder becomes, and every revelation leads to greater confusion. Things can seem perfect... even when they’re inescapably horrifying.

10-30: A Riveting Crime Mystery is a murder thriller story. Having read previous works from this author, I knew from the start that I was in for a beautiful story. Payden Becks has recently joined the police force. He works under an older, more experienced field trained officer named, Richard. Richard is married to Ana, and the three of them get to become close to a point where Richard even asks Payden to watch over his wife when he is called in for an assignment.

Richard is murdered, and that is where the story takes an interesting turn. Payden and Anna work together in discovering what really happened and why Richard is gone. The more they investigate, the deeper the story goes.

I found the book to be very intense. Being a crime mystery story, I was expecting it to be as such. The literature not only was descriptive to its nature of standing, but it also defined the feelings and interactions between the characters to a very natural way. The prospect of knowing how and why the murder has happened was exciting to me, and I believe the author took great consideration towards making sure there weren’t any loopholes.

I recommend this to murder mystery fans and people who like to read intense storylines.

The 2019 release of the movie, "The Joker", for which Joaquin Phoenix won an Academy Award portraying Batman's most notorious nemesis, made 2019 the year of the villain's back story. While I don't think the book "10-30" was planned to coincide with that, the connection is there. This novel is the origin story of bad cop Payden Beck, whom we first met in Michael Golvach's novel, "Split the Middle". This new prequel shows us Beck right out of police academy with his buddy Bryan Verrill, and the mentors who taught them how crime fighting is really done.
If you have read "Split the Middle", then you will see Payden Beck as a more sympathetic, three-dimensional character in this book.
If you have not yet read "Split the Middle", then I recommend you read this book first because I think this series works best in chronological order.
Mr. Golvach shows us once again in this novel what a great storyteller he is and that he can create characters you will not soon forget, from the rookie cops and hardened veteran detectives to the femme fatale who keeps things steamy and pulls all the strings.
I look forward to reading the third book in this series, which is due out sometime in 2020.

A fascinating story I would categorize as a sexy, psychological crime novel about a rookie police officer named Payden Beck who is working his first murder case. Payden isn’t your average cop. In fact, I think he might be a psychopath. That is not to say he is a bad person. He realized early on in life that he wasn’t like everybody else, being born without a moral compass. As a result, he has patterned his behavior after his father who was a good person, and in doing so, appears to be normal to those around him. The other main character is a sexy widow with some sort of obsessive-compulsive disorder who spends part of her time in a fantasy world. The chemistry between the two leads is awesome! The plot moves along at a steady clip and kept my interest from the first page right up to the twisted ending. I should mention that the book does contain explicit sexual language and situations in case that is outside your comfort zone. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy a good steamy murder mystery.
