Emlyn Chand’s first sojourn into Literary/New Adult Fiction weaves a tale of friendship, dreams, and a lingering loss, while illustrating how our similarities often drive us apart.
Product Description
Ideal not just for adults, but also for teens aged 17 and up.
Why does growing up have to be so difficult?
Daly English is having a harder time than most. Her future as an artist is unclear, her relationship with her mother is damaged beyond repair, and—to top it all off, her long-term boyfriend is having an affair. When Daly befriends two unlikely individuals—first a pregnant teen, and then a light-hearted charmer from India—her cynicism begins to melt away.
Meghann provides insight into Daly’s life and an endless stream of good advice, comforting Daly despite her own less fortunate position.
Kashi proves he cares too much about Daly to let her fade into the background of her own life. After a series of false starts, their quirky romance carries them to India, where Daly must win the approval of Kashi’s family in order to seal their “forever.”
Will these friendships be enough to turn around Daly’s directionless life? Will she move past the hurt and learn to trust again? Or will her mother, once again, ruin everything she’s worked so hard to achieve?
Torn Together, Emlyn Chand’s first sojourn into Literary New Adult Fiction, weaves a tale of friendship, dreams, and a lingering loss, while illustrating how our similarities often drive us apart.

Rating by Heather C. Cox on May 18, 2013:
For the past few years i have engrossed myself in the YA and paranormal book world. Prior to, and at times, during, these few years i have also loved adult suspense/mystery/thriller books. One category I never delved into was Women’s Lit Fic. I can honestly say that I never had any interest in the genre. What made me pick up Torn Together? It was the amazing writing style of the author. Previously, I read Emlyn’s Farsighted series and there was no way I wouldn’t give this novel a go. It was well worth the read! Emlyn has such an extraordinary talent for imagery that i “saw” this book rather than read it. Daly is a woman who, at a young age, lost her father. Her mother, Laine, is so grief-stricken that she emotionally abandons Daly at the time she needed her most. Just when Daly felt that things would never get better she meets Kashi, a handsome and charming man, things start to pick up. Together, they share a whirlwind romance, travel to his home country of India, and face the biggest test of their relationship. Along with Daly, Laine, and Kashi are a few other colorful characters that have a big impact on all of their lives. Without giving out any spoilers, from beginning to end, i ran the gamut of emotions. I laughed, cried, laughed harder, and cried harder. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and want to say thank you, Emlyn, for taking what you know and telling us your story.
